This car is the very first Merak imported to Australia and was registered as ILJ872. The story goes back in the 70’s, when the grandfather was going to give the car to his grandson when he turned 18, but had to sell it before that happened. In 2011 the grandson came upon a Merak and its owner, who claimed that it was the first Merak imported to Australia, which happened to be this same car. The grandson and the owner came to an understanding about fate and the car was sold to the grandson! Reunited again, the grandson is happily now rebuilding the car. The attached photo shows the car in its original color of Grigio Flemington in the 70’s. Engine No. 114 50 30 500 597 Registered 12/05/1976. | ||||||
